Abundant water is critical to the success of newly planted trees. The most frequent cause of tree and shrub loss that we see is lack of water, so be sure to water your plants! Allow water to soak slowly into the soil around the tree base to penetrate deeply and reach the entire root mass of the plant. Many gardeners mistakenly water frequently but lightly, which doesn’t allow water to reach the deeper root zone. Protect your investment with a TreeGator® watering bag. They water efficiently and effectively by providing deep water saturation with no water loss to run-off or evaporation.
TreeGator® bags are easy to install and don’t require any tools. Wrap the bag around the tree, zip the two sides together, and use a hose to fill it with water. The TreeGator® Original holds 15 gallons of water. The bag will slowly release the water around the plant for approximately 6 to 8 hours. Once the bag is empty, either move it to another tree and refill or store it until it’s needed again. One or two applications a week is usually recommended, depending on weather conditions.
