Starting Position: Inventory Control Assistant
Current Position: Green Goods Supervisor / Location Manager

Jessica grew up in rural Michigan, where from an early age she was deeply connected to green, growing things. A passion for plants runs in her family and Jessica attributes her green thumb to her beloved grandmother, who introduced her to gardening. One of Jess’ first green creations was a natural stone wall that she constructed, as a youngster, from native fieldstone and then planted densely with emerald green moss collected from the surrounding woodlands. One might say that wall was the foundation of her career as a professional in the Green Industry!

Jessica attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan where she earned a degree in Ornamental Horticulture and she has worked in the Nursery and Garden Center industry since 2003. She moved to Wisconsin in 2007 to take a position with Johnson’s Nursery in Menomonee Falls. In 2014 she transferred to a retail Cedarburg store, Johnson’s Gardens, as the Green Goods Supervisor. In 2022, Heyden’s Gardens purchased Johnson’s, and Jess continues as the Location Manager. Her enthusiasm, natural drive, excellent people skills, and willingness to take on new challenges without blinking an eye allows her to flourish in the position she currently holds.

Here’s Jessica on her goal as the manager of Heyden’s Gardens: “My goal is to create a happy, positive environment where my employees and customers feel valued and appreciated. We pride ourselves on growing high-quality plants and offering a complete line of gardening products in a clean, well-organized, and welcoming space. I enjoy using my energy to motivate my team and I believe that our friendly, helpful staff genuinely shares my love and enthusiasm for the work we do here at Heyden’s Gardens. I LOVE PLANTS!!!”

I love that Heyden’s is a family business that is dedicated to producing quality plant material. We have a professional staff made up of experienced gardeners and educated horticulturists who, combined, have hundreds of years’ worth of plant knowledge. It’s great to be surrounded by all that plant brainpower!
