Floral Design

In 2022 Beau Heyden purchased Heyden’s Gardens in Cedarburg and set about transforming it into the robust full-service garden center that it is today. We grow all our own annuals, hanging baskets, and seasonal plants. We also grow most of our own perennials and vegetables. The only groups of plants that we do not produce in-house are our hardy trees and shrubs, purchased from a reliable northern grower, and our houseplants, brought in directly from growers in Florida. Effective January 1, 2025 we will be adding floral design and delivery to our offerings!

It’s been a convoluted path to get us here, but we’re right where we belong!

In 2016, several years before Beau purchased the Cedarburg location, he purchased the greenhouse operation at Nehm’s Greenhouses & Floral in Slinger. At that time the on-site floral shop, originally founded in 1994, remained in the ownership of Judy Nehm. Judy has decided to retire in 2025 and the Heyden family will be taking over operation of the floral shop on January 1, 2025.

It’s a natural fit as floral design is a long-established tradition in the Heyden family. Beau’s wife, Keli, is a fourth-generation floral designer! In the 1940’s her great-grandparents started a floral business in Gurnee, Illinois. The business passed down to her grandparents and then to her parents, and Keli grew up on the property surrounded by the hustle and bustle of a thriving floral business. Even as a young girl she was helping around the shop and her skills with everything floral related are “in her blood”. Sadly, the family floral shop suffered a devastating fire in 2012 and closed permanently.

Keli moved to Wisconsin when she married Beau in 2022, and she brought several members of her talented family along with her. Peter and Robin, Keli’s dad and mom, are an integral part of the day-to-day operations at both the Cedarburg and Slinger greenhouse locations. Her aunt and nephew also help out during the busy seasons. Beau’s daughter, Anna, manages the Nehm’s garden center and several other members of Beau’s family pitch in during spring planting season and whenever extra hands are needed. It is most definitely a family affair!
