Each year, with the arrival of spring, we are reminded of the positive power of change.
Our gardens grow and change with time. We may lose a treasured plant, only to discover that the one we replace it with has not only all the great qualities of its predecessor but additional merits as well. Thus, our gardens develop and improve.
We are truly excited to share with you our news of change. This spring Johnson’s Gardens will become Heyden’s Gardens.
While we are sad to be parting with the Johnson family, we are thrilled to be joining the Heydens. Chad Johnson, a third-generation nurseryman, has passed the baton to Beau Heyden, another third-generation nurseryman. While Chad’s lifetime experience and expertise is primarily nursery production of woody plants, Beau’s is with greenhouse production of annuals.

Beau (and his family) are also owners of the local Nehm’s Greenhouses & Floral company in Slinger, WI.
We have already begun construction on a new greenhouse and are looking forward to greatly increasing our production of annuals in the years to come. Going forward we will be growing all our own seasonal annuals, vegetables, and hanging baskets!
While we are enthusiastic about the changes to come, we also want to assure you that much will remain the same.
What won’t change?
- We will continue to honor Johnson’s Gardens Gift Cards and rewards certificates.
- Our shop will continue to be fully stocked with quality garden tools & supplies, garden art, houseplants, gifts, and seasonal décor.
- We will continue to be your source for a large selection of locally grown and well cared for garden plants, including annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees.
- Our seasonal transitions will remain the same. Autumn will be abundant with our home-grown mums, kale & fall annuals as well as our usual fun assortment of heirloom & specialty pumpkins, gourds, and squash. Our Christmas shop will continue to offer an exquisite collection of ornaments, gifts, and décor and we expect to expand our stock of Christmas trees. We will also continue to be open year-round and available to answer your garden questions in all seasons.
- We will continue to offer bulk wood mulch, available for pick-up or delivery.
What will change?
- While we will continue to include some Johnson’s plants in our stock, as Heyden’s Gardens we will no longer be offering access to Johnson’s full inventory. However, the full Johnson’s Nursery inventory will still be available to you through their Menomonee Falls location.
So, that’s the news! We look forward to moving forward as Heyden’s Gardens and hope you’ll join us in the journey.
